A deeper look into the worlds of our two newest projects – Part 2: OSITA
over 4 years ago – Wed, Nov 27, 2019 at 04:17:46 PM

Hey friends,

As promised, after looking in depth at our first new fantasy story, Nani, we’re now going to take a look into the shadowy world of our new dark fantasy tale, OSITA.

We are releasing the first issue of this dark fantasy comic, which comes from the same team in Nigeria that created ORO. Those of you who read the Raki Edition of our Kickstarter Anthology will be familiar with the latter.

Oro has been a fan favourite among our readers and with Osita starting out by telling the tale of a group of friends who have been kidnapped by a deranged cultist bent on sacrificing them to his demonic overlord, we’re expecting big things from their latest project.

Osita is not a story that deals with its content lightly and normal humans can find themselves hopelessly outmatched against the dark forces of the night. However, not all people are what they seem in this story, and to save their friends, they are sometimes forced to reveal secrets that they would have happily gone to their graves with – even if the grave couldn’t truly hold those secrets.

Like we said yesterday, we don’t want to spoil the story, so we’ll keep it short for now, but if you’re an art lover, we have a little something for you below.

We created Kugali because we wanted Africans to be able to take back the narrative but also because we wanted African writers and artists to see that comic books – and the powerful topics that they deal with – can be a career path, and a way to show the world the beauty and richness of African culture. We hope that titles like Osita will be one of the first steps in many towards reaching our goal.

If you’d like to find out more about Osita or our story you can find us here: www.Kugali.com

(P.S. If this series of updates has piqued your interest, we’ll be dropping an exclusive Black Friday discount for our Kickstarter supporters to use on our website from tomorrow.)

Stay tuned, and as always, thank you for your support, we truly appreciate it.

Best regards,

A deeper look into the worlds of our two newest projects – Part 1: NANI
over 4 years ago – Tue, Nov 26, 2019 at 09:27:05 PM

Hi everyone,

In our last update we announced the release of our two latest projects Nani and Osita, and we gave you a brief glimpse of each story. So, in the next update we’d like to dive a little deeper into the first of those projects: Nani.

This story comes in the form of a 148-page graphic novel with the line art and writing created by Kugali’s in-house staff. It tells the tale of two sisters, Mina and Lamin, who find themselves transported to a fantasy world inspired by West African myths, legends and cultures.

The sisters don’t understand the magic that transported them to this strange world and with no way out, they must venture deeper into it. It’s a world where creatures unlike any they have ever seen roam through the thick jungle and powerful figures wait in the shadows – and it is a world that is no longer at peace. A war that has raged since the time of the gods is coming, and powers that cannot be controlled are about to be unleashed. In this turbulent time, Mina and Lamin must try to find a way home and keep themselves alive long enough to use it.

We created Kugali because we wanted Africans to be able to take back the narrative and be able to tell their own stories and inspire future generations to create African heroes and heroines. We hope that titles like Nani will be one of the first steps in many towards reaching our goal.

Anyway, we don’t want to give out any spoilers for the story, so we’ll stop here, and as for the artwork, well we’ll let you judge for yourselves.

If you’d like to find out more about Nani we have posted the link for the trailer to Nani below and you can find out more about our story at our website: www.Kugali.com

As always, thank you for your support, it means everything to us.

(P.S. In the next update we’ll discuss our new dark fantasy comic, OSITA).

Hi Friends,

As the holiday season approaches, we want to share our latest projects with you.

First up, we have Nani, a 148 page graphic novel about two sisters transported to a fantasy world inspired by African myths, legends and cultures.

Next we have Osita, the first issue of a dark fantasy comic where a group of friends are kidnapped by a deranged cultist who plans on sacrificing them to his demonic lord. If you read the Raki edition, you'll be pleased to know that this comic is brought to you by the same team that created Oro.

Since the inaugural Kugali anthology kickstarter, we've gone on to publish over a dozen African inspired comics and we owe all this success to you guys. As a thank you for your support, we'll be sharing an exclusive 15% discount which you can redeem on black Friday. Between now and then we'll send some more updates on each individual story and what you can expect.

Thanks again for your continued support.
